Burrowes Mansion Book Now Available
The new edition of The Burrowes Mansion of Matawan New Jersey: and Notations on the History of Monmouth County, Second Edition (2023) by Mary Lou Diecker and Barry C. Orr is now available! The Burrowes Mansion, constructed in 1723, celebrated its 300th Birthday in 2023, and this newly expanded edition of the book commemorates that anniversary. Burrowes Mansion 300th Anniversary
On June 3rd and June 4th 2023, the Matawan Historical Society held a historic event honoring the Burrowes Mansion and its 300 years of history. The festivities included a reenactment of the 1778 Mansion raid by the British (see video here), a self-guided walking tour of the Matawan historic district, tours of the Mansion, and many other activities. The anniversary was featured in the Asbury Park Press on June 3rd.

Please consider donating your extra clutter and unwanted items to our Summer Rummage Sale & Fundraiser.
We will be collecting donated items this week:
-Thursday, 5/16: 5:30-7pm
-Sunday, 5/19: 5-6pm
Drop off is in the backyard of Burrowes Mansion (94 Main Street, Matawan, NJ).
All proceeds from our sale will go towards supporting our non-profit charitable organization and maintaining Burrowes Mansion Museum.
Some examples of items we are seeking below:
-vintage items
-old toys/games
-old sports items
-maps & prints
-functional items
-small furnishings
-electronics
-home goods
-holiday decorations
Please see below for items we are not currently accepting:
nothing large or bulky, non-functional or broken items, large electronic items (IE: TVs, printers), couches, bedroom sets, pillows, dining sets, baby items, baby clothing, used clothing without tags, used shoes, glassware, used books, and most furniture (with some exceptions, please contact us for more info).
We will be collecting items on Sundays now through May 30th.
Drop off also available by appointment. Item pickup by our volunteers is also available by request. Please share with friends and family. Feel free to contact us directly through messenger with any questions.
The sale will be held on June 2nd from 9-2pm in the Burrowes Mansion backyard, (94 Main St., Matawan).
